Corrugated board – a creative and functional paper transformation
By “converting”, people should understand the process that occurs at or near the end of a web forming line to improve its characteristics, or “convert” it into products.
The web is usually a continuous sheet of flexible material, like paper or film. It is usually obtained by pouring or extruding liquid material onto moving belts and/or rolls that spin in order to dry it, heat it, cool it, tangle it, and, give it a form, up to the point where it can be wound into large rolls.
A great number of converting operations do not take place on the web forming line itself, they are separate operations, in a separate location, that need their own specialised paper converting machines.
Nevertheless, they begin with the large wound roll of material from the primary operations mentioned previously, after which the paper is transformed starting from the “parent” roll.
One of the most important transformation, which may be both functional and creative is corrugating. A major use for kraft paper is paperboard and corrugated box. The locations where this process occurs, where kraft paper is turned into corrugated boxes are mostly referred to, as board converters.
The process can be divided into three application segments. The initial process, or wet end equipment, unwinds two or more rolls of kraft paper and glues them together into a sheet of corrugated medium. Then, the sheet is cut into blanks and stacked with the help of the dry end equipment. Finally the blanks are slit, scored, printed, folded, glued and stacked by the finishing equipment.
The demand in this industry segment ,is high-quality printed boxes, and the possibily of aquiring low-cost corrugated board machinery, these being the key issues that affect most manufacturers in the first place.
Once the problem of suitable equipment is solved, processing is ready to start and for the best solution and professional advice,everyone dealing in this business is more than welcomed to take a look and choose from our cutting-edge technology equipment, at your service on: www.allforprintmarket.com. There are plenty of paper and cardboard processing equipment with which you can perform various packaging and promotional material.
It is also good to know that the range of corrugated board provides packaging for most diverse industries with a share of over 50%, due to the numerous advantages they offer:
– a good protection of the products due to the capability to take over the mechanical stress by the corrugated layers;
they are very light;
– protect against temperature variation due to the air present between the paper layers;
– the production costs are lower than those of other packing categories; they can be transported folded;
– are suitable for transportation using pallets;
– can be reused and are biodegradable.
In terms of creativity and aspect they may be simple or complex and perhaps the most important of all is that they can be printed and customized.
